<div itemprop="description">SAVARY, Alfred Ellison &ndash; 90, Dartmouth, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 24, 2015, at Dartmouth General Hospital. Born in Bear River, Nova Scotia, Alfred was a son of the late Helen and Charles Savary. He was a long-time resident of Halifax, served on harbour Pilot Boats during WWII, worked as an operator for Metro Transit for 34 years and then spent most of his retirement years in Bear River before returning to the city where he resided in Dartmouth with his daughter and son-in-law, Geri and David. He was devoted to his family and always enjoyed spending time with them. Throughout his life, Dad provided love, support and inspiration to his growing family. He will be forever missed by his children, Robert and Nancy, Peggy and Buddy Yates, Charles and Judith, Donald and Joanne, Geri and David Pritchard, Kenneth and Jo Ann, Donna and Steve Mulcahy, daughter-in-law Janet, Thomas and Alison, Catherine and David Fitzgerald, Arthur and Susan. Alfred was proud of his 24 grand children and their families, Mark, Matt, Neil, Cari, Susan, Jennifer, Leslie, Ryan, Billy, Kelly, Tim, Janice, Joey, Lauren, Eric, Rachel, Paul, Noah, Nathan, Murphy, Megan, Daniel, Claire and Sam. He was also blessed with 15 great-grandchildren, Josh, Zachary, Briana, Hayden, Jordan, Cole, Evan, Ella, Naomi, Carmen, Brayden, Brady, Quinn, Avery and Kennedy and one great-great grandson Dominik. Alfred is also survived by his sister Lillian. He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years Theresa; son, David; brother Spurgeon; and sisters Violet, Rachel, May, and Ethel. Cremation has taken place. Visitation with the family will be held Friday, March 27 at 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. A memorial service celebrating Alfred&rsquo;s life will take place on Saturday, March 28 at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax, Nova Scotia.
