<div itemprop="description">TANNER, (Croke) Alma Cecilia &ndash; 92 Halifax/Bayswater passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 24, 2013 with her daughter Lorraine by her side after a prolonged but gentle struggle with dementia. Alma was born in Halifax on November 2, 1920 to the late Walter (Ellen Brennan) Croke. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years Art Sr.(2000). She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Mom was a member of St. Theresa&rsquo;s Church, volunteering with the Halifax Christian groups, Church June Fair, the Home and School of Ardmore and Oxford Schools. She was an avid bowler for over 55 years with the Atlantic Ladies Bowling League. Alma and Art retired to Bayswater making lasting friendships in the Seasider Club. Mom loved to bake, pickle, and do needlework and enjoyed giving it away to her friends, family and the IWK Leukemia Unit. Her door was always open, teapot on for whoever dropped by for a chat. She lived life to the fullest as a kind, loving person, touching everyone she met. Despite the increasing effects of dementia, Mom retained her pleasant disposition and was well loved by the people who cared for her at Maplestone Enhanced Care for the past three and half years. The family would like to thank the staff of Maplestone immensely. She will be missed by her daughters: Lorraine (Gerry) Wills, Bayswater, Helen MacKenzie, Halifax, sons: Art(Paulette) Hammonds Plains, Tom(Veronica) Halifax; beloved grandchildren: Loral Ann, Catherine(William), Alan(Amy), Annette(Rick), Art(Cheryl), PJ(Tracy), HelenElizabeth(Callum), Russell(Kim), Gregory(Tara), Sarah(Mike), Tom(Tara). Great grandchildren: Chris, Brianna, Keighan, Ben, Braeden, Chloe, Branden, AJ, Tyler, Geordie, Hailey, Kole, Davyn, Jack and Boden. She also leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws Patricia Oldfield, Phyllis Croke. Mom was a wonderful Mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Besides her parents and husband she was predeceased by brothers, Walter (May), Douglas (Maizie), Edgar (Eunice), Laurie (Lois), James &lsquo;Hucky&rsquo;, sisters, Loretta (Oz) Blakley, Madeline and Jean Croke, Mary (John) Power, Kathleen (Ed) Przbylski, Dorothy (Dan) Campbell, 3 grandsons infancy, in-laws Alice (Jack) O&rsquo;Toole, Dot (Ed) Veith, Clara (Norm) Murray, Etta (Art) Zinck and Joseph Tanner. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Visitation will be held at Atlantic Funeral Home 6552 Bayers Rd. from 4pm &ndash; 8pm on Saturday April 27. Funeral mass will be held at St. Theresa&rsquo;s Church, North Street, Halifax Monday April 29 at 2pm with Fr. Ron Cairns officiating. A reception to follow the service in church hall. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzemier&rsquo;s Association, IWK Foundation, CNIB or a charity of your choice.
