Millie was born in Grand Bay, Newfoundland, daughter of the late James and Beatrice Kettle. Millie's legacy of love lives on in her son David Bird and daughter Paulette Guthrie. Millie was a proud homemaker, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Newfoundlander, and minister of hospitality. Millie took great joy from gathering with family and friends, playing card games, entertaining, and Newfoundland dancing. Millie's love with God was lived out in fellowship with St. Mark's Anglican Church and as a co-creator of God in her many talents of breadmaking, knitting afghans for her family, and dancing in the light of God. The family takes comfort in knowing that "absent from the body and present with her Lord", Millie is now rejoicing with her beloved husband Jim, her son-in-law Ron; grandson, Ronnie; granddaughter, Michelle Anne; daughter-in-law, Lewana, her brothers, Walter (Ruth), Arthur (Jean), Harold (Dorothy), Cyril (Olive) and Oscar Kettle, her sisters; Myrtle, Betty (Jim) and Rita (John). Stories of a wonderful grandmother will be shared by Millie's grandchildren, Sheila (Jacques) Proulx, Scott (Charmaine) Guthrie, Andrea (Sujay) Khiroya, Christina Jurlick-Guthrie, and Millie's great grandchildren, Jonathan, Matthew, Andre, Timothy, Jasmine, Amisha, Millen, Neel, Cara, Zain, her sister, Jean Kettle and sister-in-law, Hazel Kettle.
