<div itemprop="description">Brown, Basil Matthew - 75, of Brookside, Hatchett Lake, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 27th, 2016. <br>Born in Halifax, and raised in Spryfield, he was the son of <br>the late Marie Brown. <br> <br>Basil worked for the government at the Halifax dockyards as a pipe fitter and planner/estimator. <br>He enjoyed his life through community and church activity, serving as a Scout leader, hiking, hunting, golfing, painting, and enriching the lives of his family and those around him. Always <br>busy, but always finding the time to help those in need and take care of his family, Basil was a true hero to those of us who knew him. In his retirement, he spent many years taking care of his <br>late wife, Linda Brown (Pye), at home. His dedication and love at this time was unparalleled and truly shows the type of amazing person he was. <br> <br>He is survived by his children, son Todd (Darlene) Brown, Jay (Leeann) Brown, Roxanne (Dale) Jollimore; Lance (Maryann Marriott) Brown, Blaise Brown; grandchildren, Ryan, Amanda, Jack, Ella, Isabella, Julien, and Alwynn; his brothers Charlie and Ron and sister Charlotte (Al); and many nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Visitation will be held from 2-4 and 7-9 pm on Monday August 1st in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. The funeral mass will take place at 11am on Tuesday August 2nd in St. Joseph’s Church, 3709 Prospect Rd, Shad Bay. Burial in Sunrise Park Cemetery.
