<div itemprop="description"> <p> Bernadine Ming (Izzard) Carvery -&nbsp; 79, Halifax; passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday February 13th surrounded by her loving family. Born in Africville, she was the last surviving family member and daughter of the late Daniel Izzard and Margie Dixon. In her early years she worked as a PSW at North Wood Manor and worked for welfare rights.&nbsp; She was a member of Africville Genealogical Society and Cornwallis Street Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher.&nbsp; She was a foster mother and a prominent figure throughout the community.&nbsp; Everyone that entered her home was always welcome and she treated them like one of her own.&nbsp; She is survived by husband, Edward Bayfield Carvery &ldquo;Niddie&rdquo;; daughters, Marie Izzard Carvery, Rose (Rhoda), April, all of Ottawa, Darlene, New Glascow, Glenda (Marthy), Rosella (Suzie), both of Halifax, Vendia, Toronto, Andell (Annie), Ottawa; sons, John (Sharon), Blenn (Orielo) both of Calgary, David, Floyd, Lloyd, Daniel, all of Halifax, Jermaine, New Brunswick; special daughter, Linda Mantley; godchildren, Nadine Lopey, Chante Carvery and Corey Flint. She has 37 grandchildren; 30 great grand-children; several foster grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Bernadine was predeceased by maternal parents, Daniel and Margie Dixon (Izzard); brothers, Carson Izzard, Daniel (Pool) Izzard;&nbsp; sister, Marie Izzard Gabriel; daughter, Paula Carvery; son, James Edward Carvery; grandsons, Lydell (Willis) Carvery, Jaumar Carvery. Visitation will be held Wednesday February 20th from 2-4 &amp; 7-9p.m. at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday February 21st at 1:00pm at Cornwallis Street Baptist Church. Rev. Maxine Geogh, Lay pastor Thorton William, and Bishop Joyce Robart officiating. Burial to follow at Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville. </p> </div>
