<div itemprop="description">Gary Paul Berrigan 49 Halifax. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother, father, Gary Paul Berrigan, 49 at home surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Lung Cancer. Born in Halifax on March 28, 1966, he was the first of four sons born to Sharon Day Berrigan and the late John Bernard Berrigan. Besides his mom, Sharon, Gary is survived by his only daughter, Hilary Ramsay-Voltan (Joe); grandchildren, Shayla and Max; brothers, Bert, Vancouver, Tony (Heather), Lower Sackville and Billy at home, several nieces and nephews, especially his fishing partner Andy Sheppard, as well as a large extended family. Gary was predeceased by his father, John Bernard Berrigan, and both sets of grandparents. Gary was a Truck Driver by trade working for many years at SDS Transport. When he wasn't on the road, Gary enjoyed fishing or spending time at home playing his many video games. Arrangements are under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd. where visitation will be held 7-9 pm Wednesday, February 24 and 2-4, 7-9 pm Thursday, February 25. Funeral service will take place 11 am Friday, February 26 at Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church (Corner of Robie Street and Normandy Drive) where a reception will be held in the parish hall after the service. A private family burial will follow. The family would like to thank Dr. Erica Gilliatt for all her care and dedication allowing Gary to spend his final days at home where he wanted to be. Also a huge thank you to Palliative Care, VON and sitters Shawnette and Kemmetia, you all made it possible for Gary to stay at home. We would also like to acknowledge Billy being there for Gary day and night, thanks will never be enough. Donations in Gary's memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Nova Scotia Autism Society.
