<div itemprop="description"><br> Blanche Alphonsine (Al) Beatty age 89, passed away on August 29, 2016 in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Cape St. Mary, Digby County, she was the second daughter of the late Marie Yvonne Arsenault and Pierre Alphonse Doucette. <br>Al came to Halifax in 1943 and worked as a munitions inspector at the Bedford Magazine and in the DND offices of the dockyard. She married George Beatty in 1953 and following his death in 1956 brought up their two children on her own. Al was very fond of her in-laws Arthur Patrick and Anna Beatty, living with them for 26 years and helping to care for them as they aged. When her children became more independent, Al went back to work for the federal government running what was then the newly computerized payroll department and retiring in 1987.<br>Al was predeceased by husband George Beatty and brothers Omer and Harold Doucette. She will be remembered as a loving mother to son George (Wendy Clattenburg) and daughter Susan (Jim O’Kruk) and a loving grandmother to Robbie, Amy, Julie and Tommy. She will be sorely missed by her sisters Margaret Doucet of St. Omer and Annette Leblanc of Ville Mercier and also by her brothers Gaston (Jaqueline) of Quebec City and Victor (Marion) of Nouvelle. Al also leaves behind many well loved nieces and nephews and friends. <br>With deep respect for Al’s wishes, there will be no visitation, but a brief memorial service will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax on Friday, September 2nd, 2016 at 11:00am. Private family burial will take place at the Fairview Lawn Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice</div>
