Drillio, Cecelia Ellen (Slaunwhite) – with heavy hearts we said good-bye to our mother on March 31, 2016. Born in Jollimore Village, Halifax, she was the youngest daughter of the late John and Elvina (Robichaud) Slaunwhite. Predeceased by her long time husband Douglas, her brothers, Clarence, Roy, Gerald and Donald. Survived by her sister and friend Evelyn Craig, her daughters Carol (Steve) Hartnett, Anne (Dalton Read) Drillio, and son Peter (Melissa); grandchildren, Dr. Leighann Hartnett (Luke Penney), Michael, Matthew and Jennifer Drillio as well as four beautiful great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Also involved in church activities, being a lifelong parishioner of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She also would not pass up on a good card game. Before starting her family, Cecelia worked as an operator at Sears Switchboard. Later studying business and working with Lenders Exchange. Cecelia had a few passions in life other than her family, one was her great love for animals and nature. She was an avid swimmer enjoying many nice days at the lake with her sister, family and dogs. She could always be seen in the neighbourhood and surrounding trails walking her beloved dogs. Her other joyful passion was music and dance, drawing her to her long time love of the fiddle. Starting with classical and moving on to her favorite love of “old- time fiddle” music. She was one of the founding members of the “Friday-Nite Fiddlers”, traveling far and wide entertaining in many volunteer venues, even playing for the Queen. Always loved and sadly missed. A special thanks to the caregivers of Sullivans Lane at Parkstone Enhanced Care.
