Doreen Fellows
November 29, 1955 - December 10, 2015
Fellows, Doreen – 60 of Fall River passed away December 10, 2015 at the QEII – VG Site with her husband and daughters by her side. Born in Davidsville, NL, she was a daughter of Joy (Hodder) Simms and the late Frank Simms. After graduating from Gander Vocational School she moved to Halifax to pursue her dream of becoming a master beautician and owning her own business. Her love of her career and outgoing personality gave her the opportunity to make many lifelong friendships that went well beyond the salon chair. It was also in Halifax where she met the love of her life, Fred, who she shared many adventures with and built a loving family. There was no denying that Doreen loved helping people, and found it very rewarding when she joined the team at Fall River Family Practice. She was an extremely social person and will be missed by her “Besties” and her “Diva Bees”. Besides her mother, Doreen is survived by her husband, Fred; her twin girls, Leigh (Alex), Beth; siblings, Wayne (Wendy), Neil (Lynn), Irving (Cheryl), Goldie (Neil), Joan (Pat), Wanda (Bill), Winston (Nancy), Carol (Craig), Cathy (Kirk), Chris (Arlene) as well as a long list of nieces and nephews. She will also be missed by her beloved “fur babies”, Ozkar, Sophie and Penny. Besides her father, she was predeceased by her son, Frederick Andrew “Andy”. A celebration of Doreen’s life will take place 1pm Monday, December 14, 2015 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Burial will be in Fairview Lawn Cemetery with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Family flowers only. Donations in memory may be made to the IWK Children’s Hospital or Ovarian Cancer Canada. The family would like to extend our gratitude to the team of health care workers at the 5A Gyne-Oncology Unit, the Chemo Unit, the Palliative Care Team, and especially her devoted physicians, Dr. Farah Kapur and Dr. James Bentley.
