Doris Jessie Lillian Brown
June 10, 1930 - September 3, 2014
Brown, Doris Jessie Lillian – age 84 of Halifax. It is with great sadness that we announce that on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, Doris left this world to be reunited with Murray, her hearts’ love of 56 years. Doris was born in Peasbrook, Guysborough County to the late Charles and Helen (Moscardini) Jamieson. She moved to Halifax where she met and married Murray. They settled in Fairview, where together they built the house on Rosedale Avenue, literally from the ground up. It was there that they raised their two children and made many lasting memories together. Doris and Murray loved to travel and had taken numerous trips to Hawaii, Nashville and Branson. She loved country music and enjoyed many Saturday nights dancing to a good band at the Fairview Legion. Many happy times were also spent with family and friends at the cottage in Mount Uniacke. During these years she was employed at Sears, Mumford Road. This past year Doris participated in two events that brought her great joy, happiness and pride. The first was seeing and helping her grandson Mark transform the house on Rosedale into a home that is truly his own. Secondly, just two short weeks ago, she witnessed the marriage of her grandson Matthew to his beautiful bride Susanna. Doris leaves behind to mourn her passing, daughter Margo Gammon, Dartmouth; son Ron (Brenda), Beaver Bank; grandsons Matthew, (Susanna), Calgary and Mark (Chris), Halifax. She is also survived by sisters, Marguerite (Frank) Ehler, Guysborough and Brenda (Stephen) MacLellan, Bedford. Doris was predeceased by her husband Murray; sister, Gladys Powell and son in law, Michael Gammon. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 1-3pm Saturday September 6 followed by a memorial service at 3pm both in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Rev. Mark Kingsbury officiating. Interment at a later date in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
