Jollimore, Ella Marie - 80, of Halifax, passed away peacefully with family and friends at the Infirmary on November 5th, 2010 after an incredibly courageous battle with cancer that astounded both her family and doctors. Born in Amirault’s Hill, Yarmouth County, she was the daughter of the late Armand and Marie Celeste Landry. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend to many. She was predeceased by brothers Job and Gerard, and sister Jeanne. She is survived by Jack, her devoted husband of 53 years, daughter Cindy (Mike); son Tim Jollimore (Sandi Mitchell), BC; grandchildren Alexander and Luke; sisters Ismay (Paul) Hogan, Boston, MA; Amanda Blinn (late Norman), Belliveau Cove, NS; Muriel (Ernest) Doucette, Amirault’s Hill; and brother Eric (Theresa) Landry, Toronto; sisters-in-law Theresa and Helen Landry. She is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and loyal friend Valerie Comeau. After Ella graduated from Nova Teachers College at the youthful age of 17, she began teaching in Barrington Passage and Hubbards Point. She was well liked by her students, many of whom were older than she was. After moving to Halifax, she worked as a secretary for the Federal Government in various departments both early and later on in her career. She also spent a number of years at the Capitol Theatre on Barrington Street, where the family spent many happy times seeing the latest movies and shows. Ella was a lifelong member of Saint John the Baptist CWL where she had many friends and served in various executive positions. She was a faithful volunteer both at the Church, Hope Cottage, Hand in Hand and Christian Child Care International, in addition to other charitable organizations. She was a softball player and coach, an avid sailor, and a formidable crib and bridge player. Simply put, she was a wonderful person. Visitation will be at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Friday November 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Saint John the Baptist Church, 26 Purcell’s Cove Road Saturday November 10th at 10 am.
