Ernest William "Bill" Day
Day, Ernest William “Bill” 63, passed away unexpectedly and far too soon August 15 at the QEII Health Centre. Born in Halifax to the late Donald and Gwendolyn (Biggs) Day, he worked as a draftsman for over 32 years for DND, most recently at Willow Park. Bill was an avid car buff and Formula One devotee, and an eager traveler. He enjoyed a wide circle of dear friends who meant everything to him. Bill will be missed and forever remembered by his family and friends for his kindness, generosity, and loyalty. When we needed him, he was always there for us. He was an organ donor and gave everything right to the very end. He is survived by his brother, Ronald Bruce (Cathy) of Calgary; sister, Donna (Allan) Patton of Halifax; nephews, Jason (Laura) Patton, Ian Day; niece, Meghan Jakubec, as well as great nephews Jack and Ben and great niece Emma. At Bill’s request, there will be no visitation or memorial service. He only asked that we remember him and celebrate his life in our own special way. The family would like to extend thanks to the staff of QEII ER, ICU 5.2, and Legacy of Life Coordinators for their diligent and thoughtful care during this trying time. Also, thank you to Karen Wilson and her children Emily and Barry and her family and Wayne MacLean for being such loving, longtime kindred spirits to Bill. Donations in his memory may be sent to Chalice Canada or the Kidney Foundation. Online condolences may be made to the family by visiting The Halifax chapel at www.atlanticfuneralhomes.com
