<div itemprop="description">O’Hearn, Grace Evangeline - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Grace O’Hearn (Roberts), 93, who died peacefully in the Victoria General Hospital, on March 30th, 2017. She was born in Windsor, Nova Scotia and was the daughter of the late William and Edith Roberts. She spent her working life with Canadian National Railway as an operator and many years with Balcom Chittick Drug Store – a staple of years gone by in the Hydrostone. She was a proud Northender that would not hesitate to call the shots – stern, but always fair, loving, and never short of a humorous reply. She could often be found spending time with family and friends, walking along Bayswater Beach, or travelling to the New England States with her loving husband of 71 years, Thomas. She is survived by her children Lana (Forrest) and Bruce (Trish), grandchildren Laura (Andrew), Jill (Jimmy), Jordan (Lauren), and Kayla (Harrison), and great-grandchild Camden; sisters, Freda Reid, Marion Dugay. She is pre-deceased by her daughter-in-law, Paulette O’Hearn and husband, Thomas O’Hearn. She will never be forgotten for stepping in and helping raise Jordan and Kayla. She will always be remembered by those who loved her as well as those who enjoyed her ginger crinkle cookies – “the best cookies in the world” as the kids in the neighborhood would say. We would like to thank Closing the Gap, Victorian Order of Nurses, the paramedics and all Emergency Health Services, and the Palliative Care staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their care and support over the past few months. Arrangements are under the care of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.</div>
