<div itemprop="description">September 26, 1926 - February 17, 2016 <br> <br>Spiliopoulos, Helen “Helene” – It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Helen Spiliopoulos on February 17, 2016 at St. Martha’s Hospital, Antigonish, surrounded by her family. <br> <br> She is survived by her children, Peter, Maria, George (Dina), Nick (Alice), Anastasia Panagopoulos; grandchildren, Peter Jr., Alexis, Debbie, Vasili, Eleni, Tania Marossis; great grandchildren, Alyssa, Chloe. <br> <br>Helen is also survived by her sister, Toula (James Sifnakis) as well as many nieces and nephews. <br> <br>Helen was born in Drimos, Kalavrita, Greece and was a daughter of the late George and Anastasia Spiliopoulos. <br> <br>Besides her parents she was predeceased by her brother, Nick Spiliopoulos, Athens, Greece. <br> <br>Helen immigrated to Sydney, Nova Scotia, Canada as a single parent with 5 children in 1962 where she lived for 9 years. She then moved to Antigonish where she lived out the rest of her life. <br> <br>Helen was a loving mother (MANA). Her greatest joy was her children. Her unconditional love, devotion and care for her children was beyond honorable. Throught her life, she faced many hardships as a single mother, but, never complained. She had a heart of gold, known for her generosity and kindness for mankind. <br> <br>She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends. <br> <br> Visitation was held from 7-9 pm, Thursday, February 18 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Funeral took place 1 pm Friday, February 19 at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church with burial in Fairview Lawn Cemetery with a reception following in the parish hall. <br> <br>Many thanks to father Panagiotis Maropoulos for his kindness and support.</div>
