It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that our family announces the passing of Hind Jabbour a beloved mother, a sister, an aunt, a grandmother and a great grandmother, on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at the Abbie J Lane Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Diman, Lebanon on October 5th, 1921, the oldest daughter of the late Wadih Arab and his wife Theresea. Hind was predeceased by her loving husband of 55 years Boutros Jabbour and her sister Nahid (Antonios) Ghosn. Hind is survived by her three sons; Boulos (Mary), Pierre (Kathy), Wadih (Katia) and her four daughters; Hilda (Zakhour) Faddoul, May (Emile) Laba, Amal (Philipe) Choueiri and Therese (Antonios) Faddoul, all of Halifax. Also survived by her sisters; Marie (Robert) Campeau, Margo (Chuckri) Arab, Jacqueline (Moussa) Hanna, Maha Arab, all of Halifax and Josephine (Fouad) Fares of Lebanon along with 20 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews as well as numerous friends in the Lebanese community of Halifax. A very devoted Christian, Hind was a member of the Maronite Parish and a member of the Confraternity of Our Lady of Lebanon Maronite Church, in Halifax. Along with prayer, Hind enjoyed playing her favorite card game (kanasta), reading novels and knitting various items for her family members. Hind’s family wishes to thank the medical staff of the 8th floor at the QEII Health Sciences Center for providing her compassion, kindness and respect throughout her time there as well as those of the 9th floor Abbie J. Lane Memorial Hospital. Hind will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. May we have her strength, sharpness and spiritual guidance throughout our lives. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Our Lady of Lebanon Church or the QEII Health Sciences Center. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 2nd from 2:00 – 4:00pm and 6:00 – 9:00pm followed by a Funeral Mass on Saturday, October 3rd at 11:00am. Both will be held at Our Lady of Lebanon Church located at 3844 Joseph Howe Drive. Burial services to follow at Saint John’s Cemetery. God rest her soul.
