Age 94, passed away at Ivany Place, Northwood Manor, Bedford on Wednesday, October 2, 2013. Born in Ashmore she was the daughter of the late Caroline (Doucet) and William Melanson. She was a devoted Catholic and a member of the CWL for many years. She loved to knit and was an accomplished quilter. She enjoyed a good card game of 45’s. Laura loved to cook and was famous for her pies. She will be missed by all for her sense of humor, little dancing jigs and witty remarks. She enjoyed her plants and flowers. Predeceased by husband Frank, her brothers, Arnold, Harvey, Andrew, Harry, Alver, Edward, and Joseph; sisters, Alvina, Reta, Katherine, Marion and Annie. Survived by sons; Gary, Ken (Karen), Rick; daughters, Shirley (Mike), Linda; grandchildren, Nancy, Shelley, Daniel, Michael, Kayla, Keanne and Jade; great grandchildren, Nicole, Nathan, Renee, and Rui. The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the staff at Periwinkle Cove who so lovingly cared for our mother. No Visitation. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 AM, Saturday, October 5 at Holy Cross Church, Plympton, with Father Henry Smolenaars officiating. Reception to follow at the Plympton Fire Hall. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, SPCA or charity of choice.
