<div itemprop="description">Linda Berrigan (Greene), Age 66, passed away on Friday August 5th, 2016, peacefully in Hill House Hospice in Richmond Hill, Ont., after a brave long fight with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving daughters, Michelle Benoit (Tarry), Karen Berrigan and grandchildren, Morgan and Brandon Benoit. Linda was predeceased by her loving husband of 40 years, Herbert Morris Berrigan. Linda was a kind, loving mother, proud grandmother, beloved sister and friend. She was one of seven children born to Gordon and Mary Greene. Siblings left to mourn are Kevin (Cary), Wayne, Brian (Greene), Margie Raymond (Ron), Marlene Simms (Cliff) and many nieces and nephews whom she loved very much. She was predeceased by her brother, David Greene (Celin). For the first half of her life, Linda worked as a bookkeeper in the grocery industry, but later opened her home to a business as a child care provider. Linda became much loved "Nanny Linda" to her children, and became an extended family member to the many families whose children she cared for. After her retirement of 18 years, Nanny Linda started a new journey to relocate to Aurora, Ont., to be close to her grandchildren. She was missed by all of those who she left behind, but was quickly embraced by all of her new friends in Aurora. She was said to have brought together the entire street with her kindness and familiar smile. She could reassure her family in difficult times, she could bring together strangers and make them friends, and no matter how many people showed up last minute for dinner, she always had enough food to feed them. Taken from us too soon, all of our hearts are going to be left with an incomprehensible void and sadness to no longer have her bright light shine upon us. We can only do our best to carry her love forward within ourselves and continue to share her kindness. Blessed to have ther. Visitation will be held in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax, on Friday August 12th between 6-9 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Catholic Church, 45 Radcliffe Dr., Rockingham. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hill House Hospice, Richmond Hill, Ont., in extreme gratitude of the exceptional care the staff provided to mom and our family in the final days of our mother's illness.
