<div itemprop="description">Beaver, Margaret “Jean” – 90, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2016 at the QEII Infirmary Site. Born in Sheet Harbour, March 23, 1926, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Edith (Cruickshanks) Butler. She was predeceased a year ago by her beloved husband Clyde of 69 years. Jean is survived by her children, Charles (Janice), Halifax, Carolynn (Peter) Coolen, Timberlea, Martin (Judy), Halifax, Leonard, Halifax, Brian (Laurie), Halifax, Pam (Charles) Carter, Timberlea, Mary (Marc) Fontaine, Lake Echo, Jeannie (George Cain), Halifax; 16 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; sister, Isabel (Frank) Sullivan, Mary (Judson) Nicolle. Besides her husband she was predeceased by her sisters, Clare in childhood, Catherine Josey, Evelyn Rutledge; brothers, Thomas, Martin and Claude. At the age of 16, she worked for MT&T as an operator. After starting her family with Clyde, she prided herself on being an at home mom raising her family. Jean loved to cook and bake. Her door was always open to anyone who needed a place to stay or enjoy a good home cooked meal. She was famous for her homemade bread, pies, jam cookies as well as her triple layer white icing cakes. Jean loved the Toronto Blue Jays and was thrilled to receive a letter from the team on her 90th birthday. Visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9pm Friday, May 27, 2016 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A graveside service will be held 2pm Sunday, June 5, 2016 at St. Peter’s Church cemetery, Sheet Harbour. A reception will follow in St. Peters Parish Hall. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses on 6.2 of the QEII Infirmary for their compassionate care. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS or the Alzheimers Society.
