<div itemprop="description">Maxine S. Major - Hatchet Lake, age 95, passed away peacefully with family by her side at St. Vincent&rsquo;s Nursing Home on January 26th, 2016. Born in Halifax, the daughter of the late Carl V. and Annie V. (Thurber) Johnson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Maxine grew up in Fairview, educated in the Armdale School system and Bloomfield High School. She is survived by daughters Marilyn (Mark) Martin, Timberlea; Donna (Harold) Hopkinson; Christine (David) Crocker, both of Brookside. Seven grandchildren Mike (Carla) Blackburn; Cara (Jeff Vail) Blackburn; Rhonda (Jeff) Pringle; Lori (Calvin) Campbell; Erin (Darren) Hynes; Jonathan (Lola Doucet) Burgess and 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by husband Gordon H. Major in 2003; brothers Laurie and Raleigh, sister BettyAnn Hanes, London, ON; as well as son David Burgess of Brookside in 2011. Cremation has taken place. No visitation. Memorial service to be held at St. Timothy&rsquo;s Anglican Church, Hatchet Lake, Monday, February 1st at 11:00 am with Rev. Cheryl Rafuse officiating. Reception to follow in St. Timothy&rsquo;s Church Hall. Interment for family only. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Timothy&rsquo;s Anglican Church or charity of choice. The family would like to thank St. Vincent&rsquo;s 4th floor staff for their loving and caring support. Special thanks to her friend Shelley who sat by her side each day.</div>
