<div itemprop="description">SFALAGAKOS (Stavrou), Photini-Evangelia &ldquo;Fofo&rdquo; <br />Age 72, of Halifax, passed away on Thursday, 12 March 2015, in Halifax, after a courageous battle against illness. Born in Athens, Greece on 31 May 1942, and raised in Piraeus, she was a daughter of the late Achilleas and Athina Stavrou. In 1964, she married Yiorgos &ldquo;George&rdquo; Sfalagakos, and they had two children &ndash; Panayota and Panayotis. They immigrated to Halifax as a young family, in 1969. She quickly became a very active member of the local Greek Community, and remained so until her final years. She loved attending services at St George&rsquo;s Greek Orthodox Church, and participating in a wide range of organizations and activities aimed at helping the Greek and Halifax community and bringing people closer together &ndash; from taking part in &ldquo;Philoptochos&rdquo; Greek Ladies&rsquo; Society events and the annual &ldquo;Greek Fest&rdquo;, to serving on the Greek Community Council as Secretary and directing theatre productions. She was very dynamic and generous. She also enjoyed painting, reading, photography, music, dance, sewing, needlepoint, knitting and other folk arts and crafts, cooking and baking, keeping customs and traditions alive, and spending time with family and friends, both in Canada and Greece. She was Godmother to many girls and boys. She is survived by her spouse George; her siblings Grigoris &quot;Gregory&quot;, Stelios and Evdoxia &ldquo;Evi&rdquo;; her children, Panayota and Panayotis; her daughter-in-law Katerina; her grandchildren Alexandros, Photini-Evangelia &ldquo;Lily&rdquo;, Maria and Yiorgos &ldquo;George&rdquo;; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by an older brother, Yiorgos. Visitation will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax, on Saturday, 14 March, from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The funeral service will take place on Monday, 16 March at 1pm at St George&rsquo;s Greek Orthodox Church, Halifax, followed by interment at Fairview Lawn Cemetery.
