<div itemprop="description">Briand (Gaudet), Renée Anne – 34 of Halifax passed away suddenly May 23, 2016. Born in Halifax, she was a daughter of Bruce and Donna (Amirault) Gaudet. The greatest joy in Renée’s life were her two children, Hayden and Lilly. She was a very strong independent person with a soft heart for those close to her. She was loyal, dependable and proud of her Acadian roots. Her love of sports started at a young age and continued into adulthood. Renée excelled at volleyball, playing for and then coaching the girls’ team at St. Pat’s High School. She earned a BA with a major in Psychology as well as a BSc in Therapeutic Recreation from Dalhousie University. This led to a career as a recreation therapist in mental health at the Nova Scotia Hospital. Renée loved to travel following the warm sun and sandy beaches. She cultivated many friendships and made an impact on everyone she met. She was blessed with a tight circle of friends whom she loved and considered family. She loved to laugh, had a natural wit and a beautiful smile. Everyone wanted to be her partner in “Washers” because of her competitiveness which usually led to a win. Besides her parents, she leaves behind her two beautiful children, Hayden (4) and Lilly (3) and their father Glenn Briand; her sister, Michelle Gaudet; maternal grandmother, Leona (d’Entremont) Amirault; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and very close friends especially Christina Darrigan Skinner and Maria Aaboe. Renée was predeceased by her maternal grandfather, Hubert Amirault; paternal grandparents, Leonard and Lillian (Drover) Gaudet. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 6 - 9 pm Monday, May 30, 2016 at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax.
