<div itemprop="description">Twohig, Ronald R. &ndash; 80, passed away April 17. Born in Halifax, he was the son of the late Mary and Walter Twohig. As a small business owner, and in his later career with Sobeys, Ron took great pride in giving many young people their first job or a second chance. He was an avid supporter of many community groups, service organizations, and youth sports. The family cottage outside of Halifax occupied a good deal of his time, as he prepared food, served drinks and took the occasional ill-advised canoe trip, while endlessly completing repairs and painting picnic tables. Regardless of the season, Ron delighted in the company of others and the family house was often filled with family and friends. Surviving is Ron&rsquo;s wife, Bernice; children Barry (Joyce), Debbie, Wayne, Gary (Novella) and Peter (Bev); eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers Basil, Kenneth and Robert and sister Irene. He was predeceased by brothers Arthur and Raymond and his sisters Mary, Lillian, and Margaret. Ron was also predeceased by his loving wife of 45 years, Dolly, who died in 2002. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax where visitation will take place 2-4, 7-9 pm Monday. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday at Blessed Mother Theresa of Calcutta Church (corner of Normandy Drive and Robie Street), Halifax. A private family urn burial will take place in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family would like to extend its deep appreciation to the staff of Northwood for the high quality of care and comfort they provided. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.
