<div itemprop="description">Forsyth, George James Sr., 86 Halifax. It is with saddened hearts we announce the peaceful passing of George on April 25, 2016 in Camphill Veterans Memorial Building, QEII. Born in 1929 to the late George James Sr. and Mary (Melanson), he was raised in Halifax. George was a veteran of the Korean War (RCR), followed by a 30 year career with the Dept. of National Defence, transportation department. George was a devoted husband and loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was respected and loved by those fortunate to have him in their lives. George Sr. was an avid snooker player, holding the Nova Scotia Championship in 1965. He also taught sign language to the hearing impaired.He is survived by his brother Billy; sisters, Doreen, Mary; sons, George Jr. (Karen), Danny (Marty); daughters, Judy (Gordie), Kathy (Late Stephen), Sherry (Danny) as well as several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Hildagard; brothers, Richard, Jimmy; sister, Eleanor and grandchildren, Michael, Danny Jr., Lisa. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11 am Friday in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, where a reception will follow. The Forsyth family wish to thank the staff of 3 West, Camp Hill Veterans Memorial Building for the excellent care they provided during his stay. Donations may be made to the Alzheimers Society of NS.
