<div itemprop="description"> <p> Zavarella, Luigi D.C. - 51, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, Tuesday January 24, 2012 in the V.G. Hospital. Born in Pratola Peligna , Italy, he was a son of Nunziata Presutti and the late Cesidio Zavarella. Luigi immigrated to Canada in July 1978 and became a Canadian Citizen in 1989. He was an avid outdoorsman. He was a great hunter and fisherman, which he enjoyed doing with his many close friends. Luigi loved animals especially his dog, Mia, who accompanied him on the many hunting trips. He was an accomplished Chef, having worked at several restaurants in the Halifax area throughout his career. He enjoyed preparing and sharing many wonderful meals with friends and family. For the last 8 yrs he enjoyed working for the Department of National Defence where he made many friends, often bringing his Italian meals to share. He loved spending time with his family. Luigi will be remembered for his caring and compassionate ways, always putting others before himself. We love you. Sarai sempre nel nostro cuore. Luigi is survived by his mother, Nunziata Presutti, Halifax; brother, Edoardo (Maddalena) Zavarella, Conn., U.S.A; sister, Maria (Luigi) Zavarella, Halifax; nieces, Maria Luisa Zavarella, Bedford, Giovanna Zavarella, Halifax; nephews, Eddie (Theresa) Zavarella, Conn., U.S.A., Michael Zavarella, Conn., U.S.A.; great nephew and niece, Anthony and Elyanna Zavarella ; many aunts, uncles and cousins in Canada, U.S.A. and Europe. Visitation will be held from 2-4 &amp; 7-9 p.m. Friday January 27 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Rd., Halifax. A funeral mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. Saturday January 28 in St. Agnes Church, Halifax. A reception location will be announced during the funeral mass. Interment will take place at a later date. The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors of the Palliative care units of the V.G. Hospital, especially Dr. Michele Molinari. A special thanks to Luigi's many friends for their love and support during his difficult battle with cancer. Family flowers only.
