<div itemprop="description">Ash, Roland Frederick – 68 passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Science Centre on November 23, 2016 surrounded by his family. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia, he was a son of the late Frederick and Maizie (Taylor) Ash. Roland was a versatile and hard worker. From the age of 15 he worked at various places including Canada Post, Citadel Inn and Dalhousie University to name a few. Roland was a man of many talents. In addition to his love of fishing, hunting, boxing, music, and playing the saxophone, he lived in Montreal for 20 years and became fluent in French. He will always be remembered for his love of food, conversational demeanor and warm presence. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Jocelyn Tremblay. He is survived by sisters, Shirley Bissett Ajax, Ontario, Sharon (Peter) Harvey, Halifax and brother, Stephen (Brenda), Bedford; nieces, Erika and Courtney; nephews, Colin and Marcus; great nephew, Daniel; great niece, Mekila and many lifelong friends, Blaine Tynes and Daniel Kelsie to name a few. Roland will be dearly missed by his family and friends and will remain forever in our hearts. Visitation will take place 11am-1pm Saturday November 26, 2016 and a Celebration of Life Service 1pm at Atlantic Funeral Home 6552 Bayers Road Halifax. Pastor Brian O. Johnston officiating. Repast to follow the service. Committal will take place at a later date. Special thank you to the medical staff at QEII Health Science Center, Emergency, ICU and IMCU.
