<div itemprop="description">Ayres, Evelyn Elizabeth 78 of Halifax, passed away April 1, 2016 at home surrounded by her devoted family. She didn&rsquo;t go quietly after a 23 year battle with cancer. Evelyn chose to rest amongst the angels. Born in River Hebert, August 29, 1937, she was a daughter of the late John and Hazel (Melanson) Glennie. For many years Evelyn worked for DND in many capacities. She enjoyed bingo with her mother, camping at Rawdon Gold Mines and especially &ldquo;hanging&rdquo; with her grandchildren. She spent many late nights enjoying a good book. She is survived by her children, John Freeman Billard, Chester, Stephen Arthur Billard, Halifax, Kelly Billard-McCallum and son-in-law, Martin McCallum; grandchildren, Justin and Kelsie; brothers, Stewart (Sherry), Jimmy (Shirley), Wayne (Sherrie), Donald (Dorilla), Gordon (Maureen), Johnny; sisters, Dorothy Bunch, Helen (Jerry) Gagne, Faye (Jim) MacTavish, Carol (Fred) Hamilton as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister-in-law, Vivian. Visitation will be held 2-4, 6-8 pm Sunday, April 3 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road. Service and Interment will take place 2pm Saturday, April 30 at Dartmouth Memorial Gardens, 767 Main Street, Dartmouth. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Radiation Oncology, Dixon Center or the Canadian Cancer Society.
