
Bevis, Louis Earl – 83, of Hatchet Lake, passed away December 29, 2011 at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Cecil and Maude (Nowe) Bevis. He was a proud 61 year Union member of U.A Local 56, retiring from C.C. MacDonald after 30 years of service as a plumber, having worked on many of the large schools and buildings in the city of Halifax. Lou’s hobbies were hunting, fishing, gardening and entertaining his grandchildren whom he loved dearly. He was anxiously awaiting the birth of great-grandchild, baby Samuels. He was a session member and on the building committee of St. James United church in Goodwood for over 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Ruth (Spears), his beloved wife of over 61 years; son Micheal “Mike” (Geraldine), Bridgewater; daughter, Melanie Bevis-Running, Albany, Oreg.; grandchildren, Kara Samuels (Colin, Milton, Ont., Joce Hennebury (Iain), Sooke, BC, Chelsee Hennebury (Theo), Toronto, Ont., Angela Robar (John), Lower LaHave, Lori Galeazza (Gio), Barrie, Ont., Heather Wooten (George), Bridgewater; great-grandchild, Brent Robar; brother Kenneth (Donna), Hatchet Lake; sisters, Shirley Glassman (John), St. Catherines, Ont, Gretta Marriott (Sonny), Wallace. He was predeceased by brothers, Stanley, Cecil Jr.; sisters, Helen and Sylvia; great grandson, Christopher Robar. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. Memorial service will be held 2 pm Wednesday, January 4 at St James United Church, 1078 prospect Road, Goodwood with Rev. Helene Burns officiating. Interment following in Sunrise Park Cemetery, Hatchet Lake.
