<div itemprop="description">Williams, Richard Joseph “Dick” of Halifax, passed away December 31, 2016 at Arborstone Enhanced Care from Lewy Body Disease. Born November 20, 1932 in Montreal, Quebec, he was a son of the late Reginald and Rita (Maguire) Williams. Dick is survived by his wife, Janet Houlihan; his children, Neil (Deborah), Janet (Peter), Valerie (Joel), Michael, Katherine (Jason); grandchildren, Rhiannon, Gordon, Louise and Roy. He is also survived by his step-mother, Beatrice Williams and brother, Robert. Dick was predeceased by his brothers, Brian and Donald. Dick spent most of his youth in St. Lambert, Quebec. He enjoyed and excelled in all sports, especially track and field. He set two Canadian records in track. In his later years, he participated in curling and bowling. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Thursday, January 5 in Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11am Friday, January 6 at St. Catherine of Siena RC Church, 6476 Bayers Road. A reception will follow at Atlantic Funeral Home. The family would like to extend a special thanks to all the 3rd floor staff at Arborstone Enhanced Care for their compassion and sense of humour and to all our extended family there. As well thank you to the home care workers who took care of Dick. Our deepest gratitude is also extended to Dr. K. Rockwood and his staff at the memory clinic.
