<div itemprop="description">SLAUNWHITE, Robert &ldquo;Bob&rdquo; Joseph - Age 78. It is with great sadness the family of Robert Joseph announces his passing on Saturday, December 20, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Robert passed away peacefully in the QEII Health Sciences &ndash; Victoria General site with his daughter and son-in-law at his side. Born in Halifax in 1936, he was the son of the late William and Margaret (Hubley) Slaunwhite.<br />Robert is survived by his daughter, Candace (Chris) Sweet, Hammonds Plains; brother, Donald (Alice), Halifax; and sister, Margaret (Fred) Bird, Hamilton; 2 grandchildren, Jeremy and Lauren Sweet and his many nephews and nieces. Robert was predeceased by his brothers, Gordon and Russell; and sisters, Lillian and Dorothy in infancy. <br />Robert worked for the City of Halifax for over 30 years taking care of the cities trees and landscaping.<br />A profound and heartfelt thank you to all of Robert&rsquo;s nurses on wing 5A of the Centennial Building of the VG site for the exceptional care and compassion you showed during this difficult time. Nurses are angels without wings.<br />A celebration of Bob&rsquo;s life will be held at the Atlantic Funeral Home on 6552 Bayers Road in Halifax on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 10 am where a reception will follow. Interment will be held following the reception in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Sackville, Rev. Dr. Ida Armstrong-Whitehouse officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Center at the QEII Health Sciences Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Division.
