Born in Herring Cove, September 20th, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Alice (Hartland) Dempsey. She was predeceased by her husband Edward Power, sons; Joseph Power at birth, Gary Power, Herring Cove, sisters; Hatti, Mrs. &ldquo;Mic&rdquo; Ernest Michelberg, Halifax, &ldquo;Mae&rdquo; Mrs. William Drysdale, Klinehights, daughter Donna, Mrs. Blair Sullivan, brothers; Vincent Dempsey (Mary) Herring Cove, Parker Dempsey (Margaret), Ketch Harbour. <br />She is survived by her son Darrell Power (Janet), Herring Cove, daughters; Bernice Allen, Halifax, Alice, Mrs. Murray Power, Herring Cove, Roberta Pugh, Herring Cove, special nephew Vincent &ldquo;Junior&rdquo; Michelberg (Carol), Herring Cove, 16 grandchildren; Bernard (Fran) Sullivan, Doris Sullivan &amp; Barry (Sandy) Sullivan, all of Herring Cove, Pamela, Mrs. Philip Lively, Ajax, ON, David Sullivan, Vancouver, BC, Joseph Allen (Yevette), Keith Allen (Amy), BC, Wayne Allen (Debbie), BC, Ralph Henneberry, Cristina Power (Rickey), Halifax, Michael Kirby (Kathy), New Glasgow, Belinda Kirby (Timmy), New Glasgow, Edwin Power, Herring Cove, Matthew Power (Melissa), Herring Cove, Stephen Power (Deana), Dartmouth, Shannon, Mrs. Jeffery Cowan, Dartmouth, 25 great grandchildren, 7 great great grandchildren. <br /> She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother who enjoyed travelling with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. A special thankyou to all the nurses and doctors at the East Hants Co. Hospital for all their care and support. <br />Visitation for Winnie will be held on Sunday afternoon April 3rd, from 2:00-5:00 pm at Atlantic Funeral Home, 6552 Bayers Road, Halifax. <br />The funeral service will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Monday, April 4th, 2016 at St. Paul&rsquo;s Catholic Church 151 Hebridean Dr., Herring Cove, NS, Father Alfred Eshun celebrant, followed by burial in St. Paul&rsquo;s Parish Cemetery, Herring Cove. A reception for Winnies&rsquo; friends and family will follow the funeral and burial in St. Paul&rsquo;s Parish Hall. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation.</div>
